Pima YOUTH Partnership endeavors to create healthy and safe environments for children, youth, and families in communities around Pima County and Arizona.
In the course of our work, we have met a wonderful group of community members of all ages and backgrounds, who have made outstanding contributions resulting in change. Neighborhoods become safer, youth become valued members of the community, kids have more to do, and community members take pride in their surroundings. Local laws and policies have also been changed.
These community members make these changes, not as part of a paid job, but as part of a personal commitment to improving conditions within their neighborhoods.
As a community development and prevention organization working to build on the strengths of our communities, we realized a need to acknowledge these outstanding Agents of Change in each of our communities and some of our programs.

Her genuine enthusiasm combined with her professional skill has been an asset to the entire Marana community. These are some of the reasons that Jessica Ziegler should be the Marana Adult Agent Of Change for the 2004-2005 year.
Catalina
Tom Shaw
Tom Shaw is an extremely caring adult Catalina resident, concerned with keeping the children, teens & adults of Catalina safe & healthy. During 2004-2005, Tom has volunteered consistently at the Catalina Community Garden, even taking the extra step to harvest produce & deliver to the Catalina Community Food Bank on a weekly basis. As a volunteer member of the Catalina Community Anti-Substance Abuse Coalition, Tom ventured into the community & spoke to many neighbors on the need to reinstate Neighborhood Watches in our community, & collected over 100 signatures from residents who agreed. Tom is a well informed resident, also due to his working for Pima County Natural Resources, Parks & Recreation at the Catalina Recreation Center & his attendance at local meetings of the Catalina Village Council & Save Catalina. He has also exerted efforts to raise awareness of the dangers of reckless ATV use, & even succeeded in protecting children at the Park, through having gates installed to block speeding ATV’s from racing around the Park. Many youth & adults in Catalina recognize Tom’s efforts & appreciate his caring concern. Tom is definitely an Agent of Change, setting in motion a positive change in conditions in Catalina.

Clarissa has always been a leader among the youth and a positive influence in the group. Clarissa helps out at home with her younger siblings and has made outstanding choices to be involved in positive programs for youth. Clarissa is widely liked and respected in the Middle School community as a friend to all and someone you can count on to be fair, I believe her positive attitude effected a change in the middle school community. Tohono O’odham
Francine Jose
Francine has been volunteering for several years as the Life Line Sponsorship child to obtain the funding from Save the Children for her Village, District and School. As the Life Line child she is the only one with sponsors so all of the responsibility falls on her to write letters and to provide personal information and photos for the sponsors. She has done this without any direct benefit to herself or her family. By her doing this, the children and youth in Pisinemo District have had educational and cultural field trips, equipment for the ropes course, cultural activities, arts & craft supplies, tutoring, a Physical Activities and Nutrition Program, Tohono O’odham Truck of Love Camp, a Learning Center that includes a media and literacy resource center, an Accelerated Reader Program and various after school cultural and educational school-based programs. Besides her cheerful willingness to be the Life Line Child, she has also participated as a youth volunteer in the Pisinemo Coalition. She represented the youth at the Meeting of the Minds held earlier this year. She has also participated in community service projects, taking a very active role in planning and implementing the 1st annual Toys-For-Tots distribution for Pisinemo District.
Thank you, Francine.

Pima YOUTH Partnership (PYP) was incorporated in 1990 by a group of concerned citizens that wanted to connect rural communities with the same programs, services, and activities available to youth and families living in the metropolitan Tucson area.
As a prevention agency, PYP works with youth and families in rural and Native American communities to reach its mission, "In partnership with communities, develop resources to promote the positive growth of their children." Since 1990, PYP has grown from its original three (3) communities of Ajo, rural Marana, and Sahuarita, to include Catalina, Flowing Wells, New Pascua Yaqui Reservation, and the Tohono O'odham Nation.
