Abstinence Only Education

POSITION TITLE:	  Abstinence Only Educator 
HOURS:  40 hours per week, some evenings and week ends (as needed)
SUPERVISED BY:	Abstinence Only Education Team Leader
SUPERVISES:  No one      FUNDED BY: SPRANS

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
This position entails outreach and recruitment of youth and parents  primarily in the rural communities of Pima County to participate in Abstinence Only Education sessions/classes.  The programs to be presented are Choosing the Best. The Abstinence Only Educator will be responsible for promoting the PYP program in school settings, community centers, and various points of contact where youth and parents congregate.  The Abstinence Only Educator will teach classes and secure locations, dates and times for classes.  All sessions/classes will be taught in 
compliance with PYP and funder policies and procedures.

_ Conduct outreach and recruitment to parents, youth and adults throughout rural Pima County.
_ Promote PYP programs in all community arenas.
_ Schedule arrangements for presentation of programs and prepare all appropriate materials.
_ Conduct parent/adult and youth sessions/classes.
_ Track participants to ensure goals and units of service are met.
_ Conduct follow-up visits or training as needed or requested.
_ Complete reports as required by the fund source and/or Program Manager.
_ Participate in the creation and distribution of newsletters and other promotional and educational materials.
_ Coordinate rural parent/adult training with team members.
_ Coordinate efforts with other PYP programs and community staff.
_ Participate in PYP agency activities.
_ Other duties as assigned/requested.

QUALIFICATIONS
_ Bachelors Degree in related field or equivalent experience working with youth in 
classroom/group settings.
_ Knowledge of rural Pima County
_ Knowledge/experience with teen pregnancy prevention programs, curriculum, research and success rates.
_ Knowledge of Word, Windows, Excel and Desktop Publishing
_ Prior experience teaching or leading classes/instruction
_ Creative, flexible, team player
_ Respectful of youth

REQUIREMENTS
_ Ability/means to travel throughout Pima County
_ Finger print and background clearance.
_ CPR/First Aid
_ Participation in orientation and training as required by PYP
_ AZ Drivers License and reliable transportation
_ Automobile Insurance in the amount of $100,000/$300,000
