Pima YOUTH Partnership, a local non-profit prevention organization, benefits from Hotel Congress' Tuesday Twilight Cabarets, which will be held every Tuesday beginning June 15, 2004, 6:30 p.m., in the Club Congress. This summer monthly event will feature BASSCK with Harvey Brooks, Larry Cobb and Tom Kusian.

Larry Cobb is a native Tucsonan. Larry is predominately groove drummer that sings and writes R&B and Pop, he has been the resident house drummer for many recording studios throughout his career. He understands the importance of space in producing great sounding recordings.

Guitarist Tom Kusian has lived in Tucson for 53 years. For the past 5 years he has concentrated his efforts on recording projects. Tom's strongest influences-Mike Bloomfield, Alvin Lee and Pat Martino.

Harvey Brooks would never call himself a legend, but his work over the last 30 years speaks for itself. For, however far back he goes he's moving forward - studying, songwriting, recording and teaching. Toured with Donald Fagan's "Rock and Soul Review". Currently, he can be heard on The Fabulous Thunderbirds latest album, Roll of the Dice, and on the recently released CD, Slo Leak, recorded with Charlie Karp and Danny Kortchmar produced by Danny Kortchmar. No Ways Tired, a gospel record he made with Fontella Bass, was nominated for a Grammy. And recently released on Rounder Records "Raisins in the Sun".

He backed BOB DYLAN on Highway 61 Revisited. That's him on "Like A Rolling Stone." He played bass on Dylan's first tour in 1965, after Newport, when folk went electric. He backed THE DOORS on The Soft Parade. That's him on "Touch Me," the Doors' last, big hit single. He was recruited by MILES DAVIS for the groundbreaking Bitches Brew. He jammed with JIMI HENDRIX for years. He was part of two great American bands — the influential THE ELECTRIC FLAG of the late-'60s and the FABULOUS RHINESTONES of the mid-'70s. That's for openers.

His credits read like a music history's Who's Who. Legendary performances - Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, B.B. King, Albert King, Buddy Guy, Judy Collins, Phil Ochs, "Mama" Cass Elliott, the Young Rascals, Richie Havens, Jefferson Airplane, Supersession, with Mike Bloomfield, Al Kooper, and Stephen Stills.

Club Congress Tuesday Twilight Cabarets will be packed with blues, jazz, and experimental music with occasional pop over tones. Come hear great tunes and support Pima YOUTH Partnership. Don't miss the most significant music event of the year. Come to Hotel Club Congress, June 8th, 2004, 6:30 p.m. for the first Tuesday Twilight Cabaret. Proceeds will benefit Pima YOUTH Partnership.

Pima YOUTH Partnership (PYP) was incorporated in 1990 by a group of concerned citizens that wanted to connect rural communities with the same programs, services, and activities available to youth and families living in the metropolitan Tucson area.

As a prevention agency, PYP works with youth and families in rural and Native American communities to reach its mission, "In partnership with communities, develop resources to promote the positive growth of their children." Since 1990, PYP has grown from its original three (3) communities of Ajo, rural Marana, and Sahuarita, to include Catalina, Flowing Wells, New Pascua Yaqui Reservation, and the three (3) western districts of the Tohono O'odham Nation.
